Perfect sun for Beach Wedding Adventures

on the Solway Coast at Laggan

On days like these, the sun rises and seems to pause in the sky, giving low, warm light all day long…

Every year around March we’re treated to a blissful spell of sun in the south of Scotland… You can’t exactly set your clock (or calendar) by it - but when it arrives, if you’re one of the lucky ones to be married during it - the magic of late Scottish winter sun is a true joy. And that’s what we found on Jessica & James wonderful wedding day at Laggan.

Low warm light that seemed to last all day - dreamy light that cast long shadows on the sands of Mossyard. A golden glow reaching through the nearby reed-beds to light us at golden hour. The Solway is a very special place, awaiting discovery and on days like these it feels like the finest place imaginable in Scotland to be married.

The Solway Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Laggan is one of the most inspiring locations to host your wedding in Dumfries and Galloway.

My top tip - just as Jessica did, make sure you bring some cool sneakers to change into for beach ramblings - the beach at Mossyard is too awesome not to explore to the full - don’t just admire the view from the sands - get up onto the rocks for epic adventure.

My other top tip - at this time of year (late winter) we can be blessed with these warm sunny days, but frost and a chilly westerly wind is equally likely - so do bring something to wrap up warm and complete your wedding outfit just in case it turns cool.

Through the early part of the year - be prepared for any season and you’ll be rewarded with a stunning Laggan wedding.
