Frequently Asked Questions

What area do you cover ?

Mainly Northern England and Southern Scotland but I love to travel further throughout the UK and I love discovering new places. Wedding photography has taken me as far away as New Zealand - if you have an exciting destination in mind I’d love to hear about it…

How do we get in touch ?

The best way to contact me is by email. See my contact page for my full contact details.

Can we meet up to discuss plans beforehand?

I'd love to meet up to hear about your day and base my approach around your individual plans.

How do you supply our photographs ?

I provide all your photographs digitally as high-resolution images with copyright assigned to you - so you can use them as you like.

How can we share our photographs with friends and family ?

I create a private online gallery for each wedding, anyone you share the password with can then see your photographs online, anywhere in the world.

Do you offer wedding albums ?

I offer a choice of professionally hand-crafted album options, and parent albums. If these sound interesting please let me know and I'll send you full details.

What's your approach to the wedding day ?

My approach is all about telling the story and capturing the emotion of your wedding day. I bring a photojournalistic style to document real moments in a complete but subtle way. Where appropriate I'll incorporate posed portraits and I'm always on the look-out for something quirky.

Do you offer pre-wedding shoots ?

Yes - this is a great way to overcome any pre-wedding photography anxiety, and get some great photographs for your invitations.

I'll give you plenty of direction, talk you through everything, and how to achieve beautiful, natural posing. If you are 'camera shy', before long you'll start thinking 'this is actually quite fun', and on your wedding day you'll feel relaxed when it comes to having your photograph taken.

Pre-wedding shoots last around two hours, with images delivered digitally.

What happens if it rains ?

I never allow rain to spoil photographs. Rain just brings different opportunities to be creative - some of my favourate wedding photographs were taken in the rain.

Where can we see examples of your wedding photography ?

You'll get a very good idea of my approach from the photographs on this website, particularly from the gallery pages. I hope you'll see the genuine expressions and emotion that comes through in them - that's my aim.

How long do you attend during the wedding day ?

I don’t have any time limits - I'm aiming to capture the full story of your wedding, so I'll attend from your preparations in the morning until your evening celebrations and dancing into the night.

What makes your photographs unique ?

I hope the impact of my photographs lies in their content - I don't go in for Photoshop fads or tricks to make them stand out. I take time to look and listen, I'll talk to guests, I'll seek out laughter, read the light, and capture real moments.

What insurance do you hold ?

I have professional indemnity, public liability insurance, and insurance for all my equipment …plus backups, backups, backups.

What backups do you have ?

I have backups for everything. I take this very seriously... (it's how I sleep soundly at night) back up camera bodies, lenses, computers, images are backed up over multiple hard drives, on and off site. And I have backups for my backups.

How do we make a booking ?

I operate a 'first come first served' policy with date availability, my booking fee guarantees your date when you return your contract and this comes off your final balance. And I have a simple contract, which details the service I provide.
